Somewhere, in the mountains of Europe, the seeds behind our company name were sown. Here, in this territory, treasured oil is distilled from rose blossoms for use in fragrances and skin products. This oil, known as attar, is commonly believed to be a product only of faraway, exotic lands and, to be sure, some distant areas are sources of this precious commodity. Still, the very finest of these attars is prepared in the valleys of the Balkans, a region of southeastern Europe. Balkan is derived from a Turkish word for continuous wooded mountains and, in fact, up and down these Balkan hills dance the roses, exposed to optimal sun conditions and nested in a layer of thin clay soil, awaiting their blooms’ harvest between May and June, year after year; century after century. In the higher slopes of the mountainsides, the flowers become acclimated to tolerating a higher freezing point and thus flourish longer, providing a stronger scent. Further down, the lower freezing point imparts more subtle, delicate attributes to those particular roses. It is the combination of these differing degrees of bouquet that create, arguably, the most superb oils in the world for cosmetic and beautifying formulations like those we provide through the JOOTS product line.Even with these details, the JOOTS name continues to be an enigma until one learns that the creator of JOOTS, a man named George, is a descendent of people who hailed from the Balkans, generations ago. And...in one of the many languages of the Balkans, ‘George’ is translated as ‘d-Juro’ and has a shortened, slang nickname of ‘Joots’ in the United States. So there it is—the keystone of how we got our name. Truly fitting, too, for George, the man who bears the designated namesake of Joots, personally guides the progress of each product and carefully safeguards every aspect of JOOTS, the organization. The etymology of JOOTS has its own distinct bloodline that now reaches out to you from its sunshine beginnings on Balkan hills to refresh, replenish and preserve. The Balkan attars—the very bedrock of beautifying creams, scents and other such potions—illuminate why we so very proudly bear the name, JOOTS. Designer Joots has 2 perfumes in our fragrance base. Joots is a new fragrance brand. The earliest edition was created in 2011 and the newest is from 2014. Joots fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Saul Klabin, George Salovich and Steven Claisse. more...
