Quiksilver is a company of surf wear, surf and other board sports equipment. It is based in Huntington Beach, California, USA. The company was founded in 1969 by two young Australian surfers, Alan Green and John Law. The Quiksilver logo, a cresting wave and snowcapped mountain, is designed by the company founder Alan Green in Torquay, Victoria, Australia in the early 1970s. It was inspired by Japanese artist Hokusai's woodcut “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”. The goal of the company was to create the best possible shorts for surfing. Two American surfers, Robert B. McKnight and Jeffrey Hakman, decided to get the licensing rights for Quiksilver, a six year-old company based in Torquay, Australia. McKnight and Hakman's success with the Quiksilver brand name began in 1976, when Hakman entered a surfing competition in Australia. The first line of apparel was also launched in that year. During the first decade of business Quiksilver achieved recognition for its swimsuits, boardshorts, surfing clothes and accessories. During the 1980s, the brand expanded its offer with other board wear and began to distribute in department stores, which peaked during the 1990s. In 1990 they launched the Roxy brand for young women. Today, Quiksilver, Inc. produces and distributes casual sportswear, beachwear and snowboard wear, with the main goal of setting fashion trends for surfers, under the following labels: Quiksilver, Roxy, Private Surf, Que, and Raisin. The brand holds offices in Europe, Australia and America. In 2004, Quiksilver founded charity The Quiksilver Foundation. The Quiksilver Foundation is a non-profit organization with the goal to benefit and enhance the quality of life for communities of boardriders across the world by supporting environmental, educational, health and youth-related projects. From its office at Quiksilver's Headquarters in Huntington Beach, California, the Quiksilver Foundation coordinates with the company's global offices in Asia, Australia, Europe and world-wide. Quiksilver fragrance for men was presented in 2008 under the license of Inter Parfums. Quiksilver is a new fragrance brand. Designer Quiksilver has only one perfume in our fragrance encyclopedia from year 2008. Quiksilver fragrances were made in collaboration with perfumers Antoine Lie and Antoine Maisondieu. more...
